The two new judges chosen to replace Natalia Kills and the other one on TV3’s hit new season of popular drama X Factor, have been revealed to be somehow even less famous than their predecessors.
Those selected, some guy and the very popular some girl, were chosen for their qualities as “people” who would “say things” about “stuff.”
“Even though it didn’t quite work out last time, we still thought there was nothing inherently broken about our process for the selection of our previous lineup,” said executive producer Andrew Szusterman. “So we decided to pluck our new judges from the same place that we plucked our last ones: absolutely fucking nowhere.”
Szusterman said that the New Zealand version of X Factor was taking a “different approach” to its international counterparts.
“Usually, the formula for these shows is, you have very popular, talented, famous people come and offer their perspective on young, inexperienced nobodies,” he explained. “But we feel that it’s actually more valuable to have contestants judged by their peers: other nobodies.”
Szusterman was confident audiences would “warm quickly” to the two new personalities.
“Some girl is very intelligent,” he said, “and some guy is absolutely lovely. I have no doubt they’ll be instantly popular, or at least for a little bit until they fade into obscurity again.”
The new judges, who MediaWorks promise will be “very nice to everybody,” will allow the show to move on, and ensure that nothing interesting happens on it ever again.
This, says Szusterman, will enable viewers to enjoy, without interference, the “same fucking thing they’ve seen on shows like this for nearly two decades now.”
