‘Forests actually on fire,’ responds Simon Bridges

Energy Minister Simon Bridges has responded to an enormous billboard erected by Greenpeace in central Wellington, which features a picture of him with the caption “Pants on fire.” At a pre-scheduled press conference this morning, Bridges shot back at Greenpeace, pointing out that their beloved forests are actually on fire.

“Ha,” he scoffed when he was told about the billboard. “Well, forests on fire. Actually.”

“Suck on that,” he added.

Bridges then proceeded to list a series of other ways in which the environment was being done serious harm by the proliferation of greenhouse gases and the risky process of deep sea oil drilling.

He wrapped up his brief press conference by saying that Greenpeace was picking a fight they couldn’t win, and that maybe they should spend less time erecting tacky billboards and more time “watching the fuck out.”
